The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Burkel at 6:30 PM and a quorum was determined.

The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

Board members present were Burkel, Caldwell, Duray, Hanson, Koland and Oliver. Member Sollund was absent. Also present were Superintendent Pace and Principal Zick.

We Are Proud…

of Activities Director, Gary Taylor, for his hard work at supporting our students in all their activities. I have seen Mr.Taylor numerous times working on the junior high football field on the weekends and evenings getting it ready for both practice and games. He is always on top of student eligibility for all activities and makes sure staff know each eligibility deadline as it comes. I feel supported in music as he gets me needed information for contests and works hard to schedule concert dates that will help students perform their best. In the absence of a transportation supervisor, Mr.Taylor has taken on the role of scheduling all the activities bussing as well. He is approachable when I have conflicts or problems and does a great job supporting activities and the youth that participate in them.

Member Duray moved and member Caldwell seconded to approve the agenda as presented. UC

Member Hanson moved and member Koland seconded to approve the minutes of the September 21, 2022

Member Koland moved and member Duray seconded to authorize payment for claims in the following funds. UC

Motion by board member Koland and seconded by member Hanson to amend the motion form September 21, meeting striking the date December 19, 2022 and inserting December 21, 2022 school board meeting beginning at 6:30 PM as the Truth in Taxation Hearing to include School Taxes Payable in 2023. UC

Public notification of Notice of General Election.

Public notification of Canvassing the ballot will take place in the regular November 16, 2022 board meeting.

Member Caldwell moved and member Duray seconded to approve the Resolution of Governing Board Supporting Application to Minnesota State High School League Foundation.

WHEREAS, the Minnesota State High School League Foundation was formed to provide support for Minnesota’s high school youth to participate in athletics and fine arts;

WHEREAS, the Governing Board of Tri-County Schools 2358 recognizes the value of student participation in extracurricular activities; and

WHEREAS, the MSHSL Foundation is offering grants and funding to assist schools in recognizing, promoting and funding extracurricular participation by high school students in athletic and fine arts programs.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Governing Board of Tri County School supports the school’s application to the Minnesota State High School League Foundation for a FORM A grant to offset student activity fees.

Member Oliver moved and member Duray seconded to approve leave of absence beginning January 3, 2023 of up to 2 years for Keegan Krantz as per master agreement Article VIII Section 8. Unpaid Leave of Absence. UC

Member Hanson moved and member Oliver seconded the to approve posting of the Technology position as 1FTE Business and Technology teacher, and 1 FTE Non Certified technology position. 1 FTE Position to be approved by the board that best fits the needs of the district. UC

Member Duray moved and member Oliver seconded to approve additional 1 FTE Special Education paraprofessional position and 1 FTE classroom paraprofessional. UC

Member Koland moved and member Caldwell seconded to approve the Close Up trip for March 26 – April 3, 2023. UC

Member Oliver moved and member Hanson seconded to approve Shari Knutson as Close Up co advisor. UC
