Carmen Holter was born on June 14, 1947 to Walter and Doris (Oberg) Holter in Hallock, MN.  He grew up in Halma, MN and attended school in Halma and Karlstad.  Carmen married Jean Hanson in 1964 and together the had two sons, Jeffrey and Cameron.  Jeffrey passed away in 2020.  Carmen had many various jobs growing up, working for various farmers, crane operator at American Crystal Sugar in Drayton, ND, dragline operator at pits in Halma, truck driving for Emanuelson farms in Drayton.  He then owned his own truck for a while until he went to driving truck for Marvin Windows and Doors in Warroad, MN for 30 years.  He retired from there in 2013 and then went to drive fuel truck for CHS in Grand Forks for 6 years and finally retired for good.
He loved hunting and fishing, puttering around with his 1946 Ford tractor.  He could do anything as he was a man of many talents.  In his younger years he loved drawing, where his son Jeffrey inherited that talent from him.  He and Jean built their house in 1983 and also helped his son Cameron build his house.
Carmen passed away, peacefully, from a long battle with cancer at his home on March 9, 2025 at the age of 77.
He is survived by his wife Jean, his son Cameron of Karlstad, his brother Mark (Barb) Holter of Karlstad, grandchildren Dillon and Damion, Niece Jolene (Kurt) Quam and nephew Justin Holter, both of Thief River Falls, MN., along with many other relatives.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his son Jeffrey, and his mother and father in law.
No funeral services are scheduled.
