Linda King, 71 of Thief River Falls, MN passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 25, 2025, at her residence with her loving family by her side.
The service to celebrate Linda’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, July 5, 2025 at Westaker Cemetery, rural Newfolden, MN with Pastor Betty Johnson officiating. A luncheon will follow at her daughter Jennifer’s house.
Linda Mae Sorenson was born February 14, 1954 in Thief River Falls, MN the daughter of Emil Oscar and Edith K. (Nelson) Sorenson. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith. She attended school in Newfolden, Goodridge and Twin Cities.
On September 16, 1972, Linda was united in marriage to Donald Dennis King at the Faith Lutheran Brethren Church in Thief River Falls. They made their home in various locations in Northern Minnesota eventually settled in Halma, MN. To this union five children were born, Jason, Chad, Shawn, Jennifer and Jessica.
Linda felt very blessed to be at home with her children until they went to school and then she worked various jobs in the area.
Linda enjoyed playing dice, going to the casino, pinochle, gardening, tending to her yard, thrift store shopping and especially loved spending time with her twelve grandchildren.
She was a spicy, bullheaded, tough as nails, caring, loving tender wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Survivors include five children, Jason (Marla) King, Chad King, Shawn King, Jennifer (Mel) Lee and Jessica King; grandchildren, Ryan, Alex, Maci, Emma, Abby, Hannah, Riley, Zachary, Thomas, Olivia, Kylie, Tristin; and great-grandchildren; sister, Deloris “Tootsie” McMahon; brother, Roger Sorenson; sisters-in-law, Robin Sorenson, Jean (Elmer) Holmstadt, and Janice Sorenson; companion, Donald Berning; her pets, Oona, Binx & Baby Girl; and many other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald in 2000; parents; an infant baby; siblings, Lyle, Ed, Norman, Richard, Jerry, James, and Kenneth.
