Lloyd Frosaker, 94 Lloyd Frosaker, 94

Lloyd Adolph Frosaker, age 94, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2025  at the Sanford Hospice House in Fargo. Lloyd was born on February 13, 1931, in Roseau, MN, and was raised on a farm near Ross, MN. His first language was Norwegian, and he learned English when he entered elementary school.
He attended a one-room country school just across the road from his childhood home through eighth grade, then attended Badger High School, graduating in 1949. During high school, he met Norma Sando, who became his high school sweetheart. They were married at Norma’s farm on March 25, 1950. Together, they built a life rooted in love, hard work, and community.
Lloyd and Norma spent their early married years in Oregon, where their first daughter, Linda, was born. She was born with a congenital illness and passed away at a tender age. The couple later returned to Roseau County and eventually purchased Norma’s family farm, located north of Badger, from her parents, where they raised three more children—Nancy, Mike, and Mark.
Lloyd was proud to be a farmer and raised small grains, grass seeds, and beef cattle. He found joy in the land, his family, and his community. His proudest moments were spent watching his children show beef cattle in 4-H at the Roseau County Fair, as well as supporting their school and sports activities. He was also honored to serve on the Roseau County Fair Board for 13 years.
Alongside Norma, they were honored as the University of Minnesota’s Outstanding Farmer and Homemaker of the Year in 1987. They also received the Clean Farm Award, and Lloyd was once named Flax King for Badger’s Harvest Days.
Lloyd gave back to the community through public service. He was elected to the Badger School Board for three terms. He served on the board of the Badger Co-op Elevator and the Moose Township Board.  He also served on the church boards at both Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Badger and Concordia Lutheran Church in Ross. One of his favorite memories was playing Santa Claus at Santa Claus Days in Badger.
Lloyd and Norma were inseparable and worked tirelessly side by side on their farm. Once they retired, they spent winters in Lake Havasu, AZ, and many summers at Buffalo Bay, MB, enjoying old and new friendships. In their later years, Lloyd was the primary caregiver to Norma as she faced memory challenges. After Norma passed away in 2022, Lloyd moved to Fargo, ND, to be closer to family. As his memory too began to fade, he often imagined himself driving a combine or taking care of the cows.
Lloyd is survived by his children: Nancy Frosaker (Jerry Heinz), Mike (Jane) Frosaker, and Mark (Leslie) Frosaker; grandchildren Rachel (Mike) Sepe, Chris (Bryna) Frosaker, Eric Johnson and Taylor, Kate (Mike) Sander, Emily (Anthony) Nider, and Amy (Colin) Bales; and great-grandchildren Isabella, Gavin, and Scarlett Sepe; Carson and Kaden Sander; and Lucy Nider; as well as his nephew Jerry Bannon.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Norma; daughter Linda; parents Lizzie (Everson) and Asle Frosaker; sisters Grace Bannon and Arlene Welborn; and brothers Selvis and Arnold Frosaker.
A visitation will be held at 10 am and funeral service at 11 am with lunch to follow at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau, MN on Friday, August 8, 2025. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Roseau County 4-H, the Concordia Church Cemetery Fund, or Sanford Hospice House of Fargo. Lloyd will be remembered for his warm smile, quick wit, deep devotion to family, and lifelong commitment to the land and community he loved.
