Darin Dale Simonson, 57

Darin Dale Simonson, 57, of Eveleth, Minn., passed away on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at Essentia Health-St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth, Minn. After a lengthy battle with esophageal strictures, which were caused by untreated acid reflux. 
Darin was born on February 27, 1968 in Karlstad, Minn., to Dale and Linda (Johnson) Simonson. He was a grandson of Joel and Jessie Simonson. After leaving Eveleth, Darin traveled and camped across the continental United States, working when he had to. He lived off the land and referred to himself as a mountain man and a viking. 
Darin was preceded in death by his parents, Dale and Linda; sister, Deann Simonson; and other family members. He is survived by a sister, Denise Simonson of Boston, MA, nephews: Patrick and Erik; great-nephew, Logan; Uncle Danny (Sonia) Simonson of Eveleth; Aunt, Vicki Simonson of Thief River Falls, Minn.; and numerous cousins. A private family service will be held.
