Obituary/Betty Emerson, 96

Betty Emerson 96, of Hallock, Minnesota passed away at Kittson Memorial Healthcare Center in Hallock on Saturday, June 20, 2026. Betty Ann Cummins was born April 23, 1930, in Norway Township of Kittson County, Minnesota the daughter of Arthur and Ellen (Erickson) Cummins.  Betty was baptized and confirmed in Lutheran faith and graduated from Karlstad High School.  Betty married John Emerson at Eidsvold Lutheran Church in Halma, Minnesota. The couple settled on a farm near Pembina, North Dakota and lived there for over 50 years.  After her three sons finished school, Betty went on to attend Aakers Business College.  She worked at area brokerage firms and the U.S. Postal service for many years.  Betty has been a resident Kittson Memorial Care Center for the past couple of years.

Family members include her sons, Don (Gwen) Emerson and Dave Emerson; daughter-in-law, Donna Emerson; grandchildren; great grandchildren; brothers, Arnell (Wynette) Cummins and Keith (Elmae) Cummins; a sister, Bev Lozinski; as well as nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; a son, Darryl; granddaughter, Tammy; and sister, RoJean.

Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at 11 a.m. in the Hallock Presbyterian Church, Hallock. Rev. Caitlin Jensen-Brown, presiding; Special music provided by Diane Younggren, pianist and Sue Albrecht, soloist; honorary pall bearers will be Betty’s grandchildren.  Interment will be in Eidsvold Cemetery, Halma.
