Irene Sjoblom, 102

Irene Pearl Sjoblom was born on December 2, 1921, in Chicago, Ill to the late John and Lucy (Price) Wilebski. She was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith and attended school in Karlstad. She was united in marriage to Eskil Sjoblom on their farm in Nelson Park Township on January 30, 1940, where the two made their home, farmed and raised their family. Eskil passed away on May 1, 1987, and Irene continued to make her home on the farm until entering The Meadows assisted living in Karlstad in 2015. She entered the Karlstad Healthcare Center in March of 2023 where she passed away, Thursday, January 11, 2024, at the age of 102.

Irene was lifelong member of Salem Lutheran Church of rural Stephen, MN where she was very active with quilting, WELCA, and Bible Studies. She was also active at the Karlstad Senior Center and was a leader in 4H for many years. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting, ceramics and was an amazing cook.

Irene is survived by her sons Earl (Sandy) of Northfield, MN., Lynn (Christy) of Karlstad, Lester (Jane) of Peel, Ark, Son in Law Arlo Qualley, 21 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren, , along with many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Eskil, daughter Jan Qualley, son Ivan Sjoblom, 1 granddaughter, 2 great grandsons, and 2 siblings.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00PM, Thursday, January 18, 2024, at First Lutheran Church in Karlstad with Pastor Caitlin Jensen-Brown presiding.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to services.

Fellowship will follow services at the church with interment services to follow at Salem Lutheran Cemetery of rural Stephen.
