Gerda Hams, 93
In loving memory of Gerda Hams, who blessed us with her presence for 93
wonderful years, peacefully passed away at Fairview Ridges Hospital in
Burnsville, MN, on March 1, 2024.
Born Gerda Arlene Pederson on May 4, 1930, in Halma, Minnesota, she was
the cherished fifth child of Peder and Lena (Satterlund) Pederson. Gerda
was baptized and confirmed at Eidsvold Lutheran Church. She attended
Halma Elementary School and graduated from Karlstad High School in 1948
Gerda married Virgil Hams on November 4, 1949, in St. Paul, MN. They
made their home in Karlstad, MN, and raised two daughters, Valerie and
Vicki. Gerda worked at Northstar News and Arctic Enterprises. She was a
beautiful oil painter and also enjoyed crafting with Virgil. Gerda found
joy in simple things like coffee with friends, church activities, and
dancing.
Gerda is survived by her daughters: Valerie (Richard) Duellman of
Shakopee, MN, and Vicki (Richard) Larson of Lakeville, MN. She is also
remembered fondly by her six grandchildren: Jadi, Joor, Christine,
Chandler, Brooklyn and Cooper; six great-grandchildren: Tucker, Jacob,
Bauer, Lauren, Madeline and Jack.
Gerda is reunited with her husband Virgil, her parents Peder and Lena,
and her siblings Elna, Elaine, Lois, Lela, Daryl, Gene, and Lowell.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, March 11, 2024, at
First Lutheran Church in Karlstad with Pastor Caitlin Jensen Brown
presiding.
A Prayer Service will be held at 3:00 PM, Sunday, at Collins Funeral
Chapel in Karlstad. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services
at the church.
Interment services will be held at the Karlstad Cemetery following
services.
