George Henry Lindstrom, 93

George Henry Lindstrom was born on November 1, 1928, in West Valley Twp, Marshall County to George and Ada (Golby) Lindstrom. He was baptized at Eidsvold Lutheran Church in Halma and attended school at the Beaton Country school for a number of years. George worked on a number of farms in the Karlstad community and later enlisted in the Army in 1951 being stationed in Alaska. While on leave he was united in marriage to Joan Kleven on November 29, 1951. Following his separation from the Army in 1953 he then drove semis for carnivals in the southern states. He and Joan moved to Nash, ND where they farmed for many years before moving to Embarrass, MN where he worked in the LTV steel mines as a heavy equipment operator for over 30 years. He retired from the steel mines and he and Joan moved back to Karlstad in October of 1990, and they made their home and farmed north of Karlstad. Joan passed away in October of 2013 and George continued to make his home on his farm until his passing on October 5, 2022, at Sanford Medical Center in Thief River Falls at the age of 93.

George was a past member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Karlstad and current member of the Karlstad American Legion and the Minnesota Trappers Association.

His passions were hunting, trapping, fishing, watching hunting shows, and basically anything outdoor related.

He is survived by many nephews, nieces, and cousins.

George was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Joan, Sisters Cora Lindstrom, Laura Lindstrom, Marie Kern, Delores Sigler, Beatrice Hanson, Julia Kleven, Lois Lindstrom, Rose (in infancy), 1 brother Eric Lindstrom, along with many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A Memorial service will be held at 2:00PM, Saturday, October 29, 2022, at First Lutheran Church in Karlstad with Pastor Caitlin Jensen presiding.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church.

Interment services will be held at Eidsvold Lutheran Cemetery in Halma following services with military honors accorded by the Karlstad American Legion.
